What types of hair transplants do footballers and sports stars get?

Hair transplants are different for everyone: while some footballers might go for a full FUE hair transplant, others might simply go for PRP treatment. The best hair transplant for your needs will depend on the density of your hair, your age, your genetic background and your budget.

The majority of footballers and rugby stars who undergo hair transplants in our clinics use FUE hair transplants, as this treatment yields the most promising results, with most patients achieving full hair restoration following their treatment.

What is an FUE Hair Transplant?

An FUE hair transplant is a technique used to restore hair growth by transplanting hair from the back and sides of your head to your scalp. This treatment is minimally invasive but we do typically advise our patients to take 14 days off to fully recover and ensure that your scalp heals correctly.

When performed correctly, an FUE hair transplant can reverse hair loss and fully restore a healthy head of hair.

Do hair transplants last forever?

Most hair transplants (such as FUE hair transplants) are considered permanent. You’ll rarely need to go back for touch-ups with an FUE transplant, as the results (while variable) tend not to diminish over time. That being said, it’s still important to correctly maintain your hair after a hair transplant.

When it comes to PRP, this treatment is an effective treatment to help maintain your transplanted and non-transplanted hair.

Can you play football or rugby after a hair transplant?

If you undergo an FUE hair transplant, you should avoid exercise for at least 14 days following your treatment. As football involves a lot of running and cardio, we wouldn’t advise playing football until you enter the post-recovery period.

Your post recovery period begins on the 14th day following your initial treatment, in which we consider your aftercare phase complete.
