PRP Hair Treatment

Platelet-rich plasma therapy, or PRP hair treament, is an advanced, non-surgical, and cutting-edge hair restoration treatment. KSL offers an ideal way to augment the recovery time after a hair transplant, improve hair thickness and growth before a procedure, or combat thinning and receding hair as a standalone option.

Welcome

As a high-demand therapy, our PRP treatment is suited to a wide range of hair loss concerns and is often recommended if you are not a candidate for a hair transplant, would prefer a non-surgical intervention, or have early-stage hair loss or thinning before the point at which a hair transplant will provide a permanent solution.
KSL Clinic offers PRP treatment at our clinics in Kent and Manchester.

What Is Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy?

PRP therapy involves taking a small amount of blood from your arm and adding it to a clinical centrifuge, where the sample is spun to separate the blood. PRP is typically performed over a series of treatment sessions and can help correct thinning hair in both men and women.

The primary purpose of using PRP in hair restoration is to stimulate inactive or newly implanted hair follicles into an active growth phase. PRP treatment in hair restoration is an evidence based procedure supported by positive results in clinical research.

The platelets within your blood, which are responsible for stimulating stem cells and other cellular activity, are extracted and injected into the target area using a very fine needle over a pre-mapped pattern to activate growth in areas affected by thinning or hair loss.

Performed by our talented, accredited, and GMC-registered hair transplant surgeons and technicians, PRP is an excellent way to activate healing, expedite the speed of new hair growth, restore the health and vitality of your scalp and hair, and help with recovery from an injury or following a hair transplant.

As we’ve intimated, PRP is used in diverse scenarios and can be a supplementary treatment to enhance your hair transplant results, be used as a separate treatment strategy, or offer clients who would be less suited to a hair transplant a non-surgical alternative.

What Are the Benefits of PRP therapy?

PRP is a fantastic solution for clients concerned about the appearance, thickness, youthfulness, and density of their hair. It is used to assist with hair loss related to menopause and pattern baldness, as a treatment for some forms of alopecia, and as a post-transplant therapy to shorten healing times and improve the speed of growth in new hair growth.

The advantages are compelling whether you use PRP in conjunction with a hair transplant or as a standalone treatment.

Improvements in Natural Hair Health:

The biodynamic compounds in your blood platelets can activate dormant follicles, stimulate fresh and thicker hair growth, and prove an effective treatment for many types of hair loss and thinning.

Non-Surgical and Safe Therapy:

KSL Clinic facilities are all CQC regulated, and as a private hair restoration specialist, we provide bespoke, gentle, and comfortable treatments in a clinical, hygienic setting to uphold the highest possible standards.

Cutting-Edge Hair Restoration:

PRP is one of the most innovative, minimally invasive approaches to hair restoration. We use very fine needles to ensure your skin heals rapidly, and you can return to your usual routine with no downtime whatsoever.

Access to Leading Hair Improvement Experts:

Our accomplished hair transplant surgeons and technicians provide custom advice to every client. Whether we suggest a transplant and PRP combined or one standalone treatment, all procedures are delivered by skilled professionals in their fields.

How Does PRP Hair Treatment Work?

Like many hair and scalp treatments, PRP is most effective over a period of therapy sessions. Many clients have three to four treatments with a break in between. This may, however, vary depending on whether you have had a hair transplant, the extent of hair loss, and the size of the area affected.

During each PRP hair treatment, we will work through the following stages, focusing on comfort and relaxation throughout:

1. Extracting a Blood Sample:

We’ll start by gently and carefully taking a small blood sample, normally from your arm, using high-quality needles to minimise any potential pinching or soreness.

2. Platelet Separation:

The sample is placed into our medical-grade centrifuge, where the blood is split into platelet-rich and poor plasma and red blood cells, with no potential of contamination or damage to the valuable platelets.

3. PRP Injections:

After just a few minutes, the platelet-rich plasma will be prepared and can be injected into the intended area with precision.

How Much Does PRP Cost?

Cost considerations are always important, but as with a hair transplant, it is difficult to provide an accurate or ballpark figure since the number of PRP treatments, the size of the area affected by hair thinning or loss, and the duration of the therapy will all influence our quotation.

For instance, if you have a larger area where you have seen thinning, want to prevent premature pattern hair loss, or are using PRP to augment recovery times after a hair transplant, the exact number of sessions we recommend and the injections necessary will vary.

We always suggest you schedule a free, no-obligation consultation to discuss your requirements. One of our surgeons will evaluate your scalp and hair and provide more personalised pricing alongside information about our interest-free payment plans.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Many PRP sessions are neccessary to See Results?

Every client may have different hair loss concerns and objectives, and the number of PRP therapy sessions we recommend may depend on the severity of thinning or loss, the size of the area impacted, and whether you are combining PRP with a hair transplant.

The norm is to have around three or four treatments with between four and eight weeks between each session, although maintenance and ‘top-up’ therapies may also be advisable to support your long-term hair regrowth goals.

How Long Will It Take for PRP Hair Treatment to Impact the Visible Appearance of My Hair?

The outcomes following your series of PRP therapies may depend on your natural hair type, the nature of the hair loss or thinning you’re experiencing, and the areas being treated. Still, you should expect to see notable changes within one or two sessions.

Of course, if you’re using PRP during the recovery after a hair transplant, this may not be discernible from natural growth, but you’ll find that healing is faster and that healthier skin and hair are visible sooner than you might otherwise anticipate.

Is PRP permanent?

PRP activates cellular activity using the platelets in your blood; thus, you may find that hair that begins to grow again will remain healthy and thick for an extended period. Likewise, PRP used during hair transplant healing doesn’t always need to be repeated.

After a first series of PRP treatments, you’ll likely see sustained improvements in your hair growth and thickness that will remain consistent for around one to two years.

However, you may also find that periodically having a PRP session after your initial treatment is the most beneficial way to protect your hairline and prevent further thinning.

Is Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy the Right Option for Me?

We provide a comprehensive array of hair restoration solutions, from customised hair transplants to PRP and laser therapy. The best solutions will always depend on your exact requirements, expectations, and how you’d like your hair to look in an ideal world.

That said, PRP therapy can assist with stimulating hair growth following thinning associated with hormonal changes such as menopause, activating faster healing and growth after a hair transplant, preventing rapid hair loss for those with male or female pattern baldness, and addressing hair thinning and patches of slower growth for clients with varied types of alopecia.

PRP is also known to be an effective way to manage and control gradual and hereditary hair thinning. It is safe for clients who cannot have a hair transplant due to personal preferences, underlying medical conditions, or for whom a non-surgical treatment is more appropriate.
