unsure about a hair transplant what to ask

1. How Confident Can I Be That My Hair Transplant Results Will Look Natural?

Concerns about a hair transplant being obvious and similar to pluggy old-fashioned plugs are extremely common! The good news is that modern FUE transplants are a world away from conventional transplants, because:

  • We achieve natural results, using only your own donor follicles
  • The lack of any synthetics means your transplanted hairs will have the same texture, shade and colour as your own hair
  • Minimally invasive, microscopic tools and equipment eliminate visible scarring

FUE transplantation is the most advanced technique, and by selecting specific follicles based on characteristics like curl and growth direction, we can be certain that your transplant will be impossible to spot.

Real Patient Comment: So that’s it, done. A whole year is gone. It’s been fun watching it regrow and seeing it thicken out and take shape. Month-by-month progress with the middle picture [on Daniel’s profile] being the end product. If you’re considering it, then do it. [I] love having a hairline again. Daniel.

2. Will I Be Able to See Immediate Results After a Hair Transplant?

It’s incorrect to assume that hair transplant results will be immediate, because it takes around a year for the full outcomes to become noticeable. As Daniel mentioned above, regrowth is a gradual process, but you’ll start to see new hair growth within a matter of weeks.

  • Transplanted follicles are permanently implanted, but the hair in the follicle usually sheds within a few days or weeks.
  • Regrowth occurs from the three to four month mark, with hair growing in and appearing thicker within six to nine months.
  • The full results are apparent within about 12 to 15 months, at which point you’ll be able to enjoy the final outcomes of your hair transplant.

If you’re considering a hair transplant, you need to be conscious that it takes time to achieve the final look, which could influence your surgery date if you’ve got a big event coming up and want to have your end results by that point.

Real Patient Comment: I cannot speak highly enough of the service I was provided at KSL. I cannot wait to see the full results in 6-12 months’ time. The procedure was pain-free, and [the] aftercare [was] very comprehensive. [I] would recommend KSL to anyone! Jordan.

3. Can I Get a Hair Transplant as a Woman?

Hair transplants were historically designed only for men, but today we know that, although more men opt for a hair transplant, they’re also an in-demand service for women. Many see thinning and hair loss and want to take action to restore their hairlines and confidence.

Female hair transplants can be used to correct age-related and hormonal changes in hair density, fix an uneven hair line, or replenish areas around a centre parting that have been affected by hair loss, as a few examples.

Real Patient Comment: The team at KSL in Maidstone were fantastic – from making me feel welcome and at ease during my first consultation to ensuring I was comfortable and pain-free during surgery. I would recommend this procedure to anyone suffering the emotional torment of hair loss. Keely

4. Will I Have Big Scars After a Hair Transplant Procedure?

One of the many reasons we only perform FUE hair transplants is that there are no large incisions, stitches or scars, because we only extract individual donor follicles using a microscopic tool called a Micro Punch.

The tiny scars created at the extraction and implantation areas are so small they cannot be seen with the naked eye, and the minimal size of the incision, about one mm across, means it heals within a matter of days and doesn’t require stitches.

Real Patient Comment: I still can’t quite get over it!! Couldn’t be happier, and it just keeps getting better. All thanks to KSL Clinic. [I] literally couldn’t be happier with the results. George

5. Is a Hair Transplant Procedure Really Permanent?

Provided your hair transplant is performed by an experienced professional, the results will be permanent.

That all relies on selecting donor hairs from ‘safe’ areas unlikely to be subject to hair loss in the future, carefully implanting follicles with minimal tissue damage, and ensuring you understand all of the aftercare instructions.

Hair transplants are, in fact, the only permanent answer to hair restoration. However, it remains essential to speak with an accomplished consultant who will be able to verify whether you are a great candidate for a permanent hair transplant and ensure you’re prepared to look after your transplanted follicles properly.

Real Patient Comment: What a difference a year makes. I can honestly say that this is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and I just wanted to share my journey with you guys and hopefully it will help others in similar situations… A massive, massive thank you to Dr Matee & KSL for changing my life.
